Information Sheet

This page provides information on how to use this template.

Included below is a Q&A style approach to help you understand how to use this template. As further questions are raised they will be added to this page.

Question: What is this website?

Answer: This website is a copy of the CanterburyHealthHub.org website ‘converted’ into a template that may be used as a cost-effective option for other PHA hubs, trying to set up their own site.

Question: How can I use it?

Answer: This template can be used as a starting point for any PHA hub. All of the information about Canterbury Health Hub, including posts, has been removed and “dummy“ information has been completed. This means that if this template is used by another hub it will require a number of tasks to be completed to meet the requirements of that hub.

Question: What do I need to do?

Answer: If you wish to use this template as a cost-effective option for establishing your own website there are a number of steps to complete.

(1) Buy a domain name and find a hosting company. There are plenty of cost-effective options available  such as HostGator, BlueHost and SiteGround.

(2) If you choose one of the packages available from, for example BlueHost, then they may offer a free domain name and registration meaning you will possibly only incur cost in year 1 for the hosting.

(3) This template will need to be installed onto your chosen hosting company’s platform. The installation will include WordPress and Elementor.

(4) Convert this template to the format that you wish your website to take. This can perhaps be most easily be achieved using Elementor.

Question: Will I need any help?

Answer: Probably. This template is being hosted on a company server so to export it to your chosen hosting partner will require some expertise. You may or may not be confident with the earlier steps of finding a hosting partner and buying the domain name either so may need some help with this.

Question: Are there any costs?

Answer: Not for the template, no. But there will be a cost for exporting this template and installing it to your hosting partner. The cost will depend on the level of support you feel you require, and this can be discussed further.

Question: What will I have when the installation of the template is complete?

Answer: This template in its current form, transferred to your chosen hosting platform. The links and references should have updated to match those of your chosen domain name.

Question: Do I get any support?

Answer: No. Your hosting platform will probably offer live chat and maybe telephone and email support. You may need to find someone to help you with any other technical aspects of maintaining the website.

Question: What is the remaining work to get my site live?

Answer: To ‘convert’ this template (once it is on your hosting platform) to a “live“ website will require the following;

(1) Use Elementor to update the pictures, themes and page content. You may also wish to add new pages. Free images can be obtained from unsplash.com and Pixabay.com. There are plenty of excellent videos available online – see resources below.

(2) Update the contact details and configure the email address in the WP Forms plug in – ‘Settings’. Also update your post code in Google maps on the contact page.

(3) Check the Internal & External links work correctly by taking the user to the desired location. All references to CanterburyHealthHub.org have been removed from this template but check your live site has no ‘absolute’ references to template.acf9.com.

(4) Install plug-ins for search engine optimisation (SEO), antispam and cookie management. The suggested plug-ins are, respectively, Yoast, Akismet and CookieYes. These are suggested as they have been tried and tested by Canterbury Health Hub and are all free. You will require an email address to register and configure these, hence why it is suggested this is done once your site is ‘Live’.

(5) The website template includes a blog, so if you wish to keep this feature, you will need to update/replace the “dummy“ posts that are included as examples. Posts can be a bit of an art form so it maybe worth looking at the second Tyler Moore video below and watching a Yoast video on YouTube.

(6) Notice the footer menu includes T&Cs, Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. It is advised to go through each of these to ensure they reflect the content of your site. Also check all the links (for example to the home and contact pages) to ensure they work correctly.

(7) When you run CookieYes it will identify the cookies you have so you can update your Cookie Policy accordingly. Don’t  be fooled into thinking that because you didn’t add any that there are none. Canterbury Health Hub had 8 (all automatically added) so our Cookie Policy reflects this.

Question: Is there any complex code or premium plug-ins used?

Answer: No. Standard plug-ins only are used – all free versions. There is no code used whatsoever.

Question: Is there any help online?

Answer: Yes lots. When designing the Canterbury website, the Tyler Moore videos on YouTube were invaluable. The URLs are as follows;

Question: What about maintenance?

Answer: This will be the responsibility of your hub. There are options available for website management so you can purchase the desired level of support such as requesting updates to your website, adding new pages, maintaining posts and so on. Once you are familiar with Elementor and Post management you may wish do this for yourselves. You will also need to keep an eye on your mailbox to ensure enquiries are dealt with promptly.
